Ashley Kay Studios: Painting Live in Store
Last Friday, Williams & Parfitt played host to something a little special. Ashley from Ashley Kay Studios joined us in store for a live painting demonstration, and it's fair to say it made for a pretty magical day.

For those who haven't yet discovered her work, Ashley Kay is an American-born, Norfolk-based visual artist creating vibrant, expressive contemporary pieces. Originally trained in watercolour in the US and interior illustration in London, her practice has evolved into something truly distinctive, incorporating paint alongside textile and embroidery to build rich layers of depth and texture. Her work draws inspiration from everyday experiences, ingredients, shared meals, and thoughtfully curated interiors, transforming the familiar into visually striking pieces that feel both intimate and elevated. Modern, playful, and deeply considered.

Ashley arrived and did what any great artist would do, she looked around, took her time, and handpicked a selection of our stock to arrange into a still life scene. With her easel set up and paints at the ready, she got to work, and our customers got a front row seat to the whole thing.

Throughout the day, Ashley chatted with visitors, answered questions and gave an insight into her craft. The response was wonderful, with people genuinely fascinated by her process and the painting taking shape before their eyes. For many, it was a rare chance to watch a talented artist at work up close.
For Ashley, it was a new experience too. She told us that her painting process is normally quite private, something she does alone in her own studio space. Painting in public was a very different challenge, but one she thoroughly enjoyed. We loved having her here and it showed.
The finished painting from the day is now available to view and purchase in store, alongside Ashley's other original works and a beautiful selection of her fine art prints. If you missed the day itself, come in and see the result.

And this was just the beginning. Last Friday was the first in a series of demonstration days we have planned across the summer, with more exciting artists and makers to come. Keep an eye on our socials for announcements, and sign up to our newsletter to be the very first to hear about upcoming events.
