This iconic mid-century rocking chair was designed by Roland Rainer for SW Möbel in Austria, circa 1953. With its black spindle frame and sculpted natural wood seat, it is a superb example of post-war European design and has a look reminiscent of classic pieces by Ercol and Ilmari Tapiovaara.

The high spindle back, shaped armrests and scooped seat provide both comfort and elegant proportions, while the tapered legs and sturdy rockers complete the timeless design. A sought-after chair that works equally well in both modern and traditional interiors.

As this is a vintage item, signs of age, wear and historic use are to be expected and form part of its character.
