Bergère Style Cane Armchair and Matching Footstool

A Bergère style armchair and footstool with dark stained wooden frames and woven cane panels. While not an exact original pair, both pieces share a similar design and matching caning which allows them to work well together.

The armchair has a high shaped back with enclosed sides and curved arms finished with carved scroll details. The cane back, sides and seat remain in place and give the chair a light and open appearance. The front legs feature carved cabriole shaping with decorative carving across the front apron.

The footstool complements the chair with a woven cane top and stands on cabriole legs joined by a turned H stretcher for strength and stability. Its design follows the same style as the chair and creates a well balanced set.
