An antique marine propeller with a classic three blade design, likely made from bronze or manganese bronze. The surface shows heavy ageing with verdigris, oxidation and remnants of red anti fouling paint across the blades.

Anti fouling paint was applied to underwater boat parts to help prevent barnacles, algae and other marine growth from attaching to the metal. The chipped red paint revealing the darker metal underneath gives the propeller the worn look often seen on salvaged nautical pieces.

The centre hub still shows the original keyway slot where the propeller would have fixed onto the drive shaft. Surface wear and corrosion throughout reflect years of marine use and exposure.

A strong decorative piece for a coastal interior, workshop, bar or collection of nautical antiques. Its solid weight also makes it suitable as a decorative doorstop or bookend.

Good antique condition with age related wear, corrosion and surface imperfections throughout.
