Antique Verdigris Copper Rooster Weather Vane on Wooden Display Stand

A beautiful antique rooster weather vane, traditionally known as a weathercock, mounted on a wooden stand for indoor display.

Made from copper, the weather vane has developed a natural verdigris patina, giving it the distinctive blue-green finish that only comes with decades of exposure to the elements. This protective patina is highly prized by collectors and adds to the character of the piece.

Originally designed to indicate wind direction, the rooster sits above a directional arrow with a larger tail section. As the wind caught the tail, it rotated the vane so the arrow pointed into the wind. This simple but effective design has been used for centuries.
