Jack Grimble of Cromer Oak Stool c.1930
A rare early oak stool by Norfolk maker Jack Grimble of Cromer, dating to around 1930. Made from solid English oak with a rich, aged patina and visible grain.
The rectangular seat has hand-dressed edges and subtle adzed tool marks. The apron features a row of hand-carved crescent-shaped notches, with traditional pegged joinery visible throughout. The slab-ended supports have distinctive arched cut-outs to the lower sections, giving the stool a simple Gothic character.
The underside carries the original Jack Grimble maker's mark, confirming the attribution. A well-made example of Grimble's vernacular furniture, reflecting the influence of the Arts & Crafts and Cotswold traditions.
