A Victorian mahogany chest of drawers dating from the mid to late 19th century and supplied by R. Cooper of West Street, Faversham, Kent. The original paper retailer's label remains on the back.
The chest follows the classic two over three layout with two short drawers above three full width graduated drawers. This practical design has made it a popular choice for over 150 years and still offers plenty of storage today.
The drawer fronts display matched mahogany grain with a rich natural finish. Each drawer retains its original turned mahogany knobs and inset brass escutcheon. The chest stands on its original bun feet above a deep plinth base which gives it a strong and balanced appearance.
The piece remains in very good antique condition with a well developed patina. There is light age related wear to the top and base in keeping with years of use. The drawers run well and the chest is ready for use in a bedroom, hallway or living space.
