An antique metamorphic wooden high chair dating from the late Victorian to early Edwardian period. Made from solid wood, likely oak or ash, with a rich aged patina and plenty of character earned over years of use.
The design features turned spindle supports, a slatted backrest and a shaped wooden tray with original metal fittings. A cast iron wheel to the rear highlights the chair’s clever convertible function, allowing it to transform into a lower seated form or stroller-style base.
A lovely example of practical period furniture with honest age-related wear, surface marks and imperfections that add to its authentic rustic appeal.
Solid and decorative, it would make a great addition to an antique interior, shop display or collection of early nursery furniture.
