This painted vintage cast iron base was once part of a combined corn and oat mill made by Barford & Perkins of Peterborough, a respected British manufacturer active in the late 19th and early 20th century. The original casting clearly shows the maker’s name, linking it to the company’s long history of agricultural engineering.
Although the rest of the mill is no longer present, the base remains a solid and well-made piece of industrial heritage. Its sturdy construction and distinctive form make it ideal for reuse as a table base, garden feature, or architectural accent.
A fine example of British industrial design with plenty of scope for creative repurposing.
