Cast Iron Seated Lion Door Knocker

This antique cast iron lion door knocker is a substantial piece of traditional architectural hardware with a timeless design.

The knocker features a full-bodied lion in a classic heraldic pose with one paw raised, rather than the more common lion's head design. The central backplate is shaped as a classical urn, reflecting the Georgian and Neoclassical styles that were popular during the 19th century. Below, the large swinging ring is decorated with scrolling foliage and finishes at an ornate rosette strike plate.

It has a traditional bolt-through fixing and has recently been repaired with a replacement bolt and nut to ensure a secure, tight fit when installed.
