This antique hide-covered travel trunk is finished in natural hide over a wooden frame. Traditionally used to help protect luggage from the elements, the hide has worn smooth in areas over time, giving the trunk a rich patina and plenty of character.

Decorative brass studs secure the hide to the frame, forming attractive geometric patterns across the front. The trunk also retains its original hand-forged iron lock plate and protective corner brackets. Its flat-top design made it easier to stack during travel, making it a practical choice for stagecoach and early shipping journeys.

As this is an antique item, signs of age, wear and historic use are to be expected and form part of its character.
