This antique Edwardian brass-bound oak cellarette was originally designed as a wine cooler. Made from oak with a rich, dark patina and accented with brass banding, it reflects the elegance of 18th and 19th Century dining room furniture.
The piece has a round, tapering, "coopered" body and stands on splayed legs for stability. It would originally have contained a metal liner for ice and water to chill wine and spirits, but the liner is no longer present. There is evidence of later repairs to the base.
While it no longer functions as a wine cooler, the cellarette can still be used to hold and display bottles or repurposed in many ways. It works well as a planter or log basket, offering both decorative appeal and practical storage.
