This Victorian carved oak pedestal desk dates to the late 19th century and features Gothic Revival style. Made from solid oak, it has developed a rich, dark patina.
The double-pedestal design supports the top without separating into multiple sections. Finished on all sides, it was likely made as a partners desk for use from both sides of a room.
Deep hand-carving decorates the frieze, pedestal bases, and drawer fronts with Gothic roundel and foliate patterns. Each pedestal rests on large carved bun feet which are raised on a lower stretcher. The desk offers generous drawer storage and displays the quality craftsmanship of the period.
