This antique storage cabinet is likely a cellarette or wine cooler, now missing its original metal or lead liner. Pieces of this type were traditionally used to store wine bottles or decanters, with an exterior designed to resemble fine furniture rather than a functional box.
It is made to look like a miniature chest of drawers, with decorative faux drawer fronts and turned wooden knobs. The drawers are non-functional. A hinged lift-top lid opens to a single large storage compartment.
The original liner is no longer present, so it no longer functions as a liquid-safe wine cooler, but the cabinet remains solid and practical. It works well today as a decorative storage chest, blanket box, or general storage piece, offering useful interior space while keeping the appearance of a traditional chest of drawers.
